Abstract
The Tuntzuchiao fault is a right lateral strike-slip fault trending N60°E with maximum horizontal displacement 2m and vertical displacement 60cm. The Tuntzuchiao fault was occurred because of the Hsinchu-Taichung Earthquake in 1935. The total length of the Tuntzuchiao fault is about 12 km. The east of the Tuntzuchiao fault is the Sanyi fault; the west is the Changhua fault; the south is the Dadu anticline and the deep is the Taian fault.
Using reflection seismic methods, we can find some special features of the Tuntzuchiao fault:
- The feature of the Tuntzuchiao fault is like a flower structure. The depth of flower structure is less than two kilometer. The amplitude of the flower structure is about 100 meter.
- The Tuntzuchiao fault was developed upper the Taian fault. Because of the scale of the Taian fault is much bigger than the Tuntzuchiao fault, the development of the Tuntzuchiao fault is affected by the Taian fault. The situation of the the Taian fault obstructs the Tuntzuchiao fault.
- From reflection seismic data, we find the range of the rupture is along the fault and extends less.
- The Sanyi fault obstructs the Tuntzuchiao fault, so we can’t find the features about the Tuntzuchiao fault on the westend.
