Suspicious Activity Structure in the southern part of Ilan Plain: Sansing Fault
Speaker: Jun- wei Zhang
Abstract
Ilan Plain was a rift basin of northeast Taiwan. In order to understand the basement of Ilan Plain, our fieldwork group SSS (shallow seismic study) worked in the southern part of the Ilan Plain in this summer. After processed these field data, we found that there is a clear fault line in the E2 profile. According to the results of the seismic dataset (Lai et al., 2009), which exhibit a potential fault plane in the same study area. The geothermal data also show the magnetic anomaly in the Central Range near the Ilan Plain. In the bathymetric picture, there is a fault zone near the coastline of TongShan country. We combined all these information above that will generate a big active fault plane in the southern part of the Ilan Plain. All results indicate that the fault plan may effect with the fluid from magma chamber. The magma source was most likely from the Okinawa Trough.
