Abstract
For most of the self-potential signals, one of the abnormal phenomena can be explained by the seismoelectric response induced by a seismic wave. Those seismoelectric signals are observed when an electric double layer near the solid-fluid interface in saturated porous medium exists. Two types of seismoelectric signals are generated when a seismic wave propagates through multi-layer saturated porous materials. The first type of the signal is from a constant electric dipole and does not radiate electromagnetic wave. This response type is considered as an electrical coseismic field and couples with the seismic wave propagation. On the other hand, the second type of the signals is from propagating electromagnetic wave. This type of the signal is generated when seismic wavefront impinges on a physic-chemical properties interface. In this presentation, something about sandbox and field experiment of seismoelectric signals will be introduced, including of response pattern and seismoelectric-potential profile.
